I wonder what would happen when the river start to run?

The weatherforcast says snow tomorrow, will it never stop.....Where are the global warming?

Skies were clear and sunny on Sol 1 on Mars. The temperature varied between minus 80 degrees in the early morning and minus 30 C degrees in the afternoon. The average pressure was 8.55 millibars, which is less than a 1/100th of the sea level pressure on Earth.

 

The weather station was activated in the first hour after landing on Mars. Measurements are being recorded continuously.

 

The Phoenix Mission is led by the University of Arizona, Tucson, on behalf of NASA. Project management of the mission is by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. Spacecraft development is by Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver. The Canadian Space Agency contributed Phoenix's meteorological station. The University of Aarhus in Denmark contributed the telltale on the meteorology mast.

La station météorologique canadienne qui se trouve à bord de la sonde Phoenix a transmis son premier bulletin météo martien.

 

Les informations en provenance de la région nordique Vastitas Borealis montrent que cette plaine était ensoleillée mardi et que les températures atteignaient - 30 o Celsius le jour et - 80 o Celsius la nuit.

 

D'après les données fournies par l'Agence spatiale canadienne

 

Des vents de 20 km/ h balayaient le sol, sans toutefois soulever la poussière, et la pression atteint 8,5 hectopascals.

 

La station canadienne pèse 7,5 kilogrammes et est dotée d'un instrument lidar vertical qui sonde l'atmosphère

 

Son mât comprend:

 

Trois capteurs de température installés à différentes hauteurs

Dispositif de mesure de la vitesse et de l'orientation du vent

Capteur de pression

 

La NASA et l'Agence spatiale canadienne recueilleront quotidiennement les conditions météorologiques dans la plaine afin de documenter les changements saisonniers et le cycle saisonnier de l'eau (passant de la glace au sol à la vapeur dans l'atmosphère).

 

Les agences utiliseront les données sur la température et la pression pour valider les modèles atmosphériques.

28 May 08 - The planet is heating up as a result of global warming and mankind is facing disaster unless we take on Mother Nature and frustrate her plans to barbecue us all.

 

How do we know that? Well Al Gore tells us so, and we must pay heed to his warnings because he is a towering figure in climatology, recognized as such by the Nobel Peace Prize committee which awarded him their coveted Nobel Peace Prize, and Hollywood which gave him an Oscar for his doomsday film, "An Inconvenient Truth."

 

Oh that Al Gore! The allegedly credible Al Gore.

 

Not the real Al Gore who assured us that he invented the Internet.

 

Not the Al Gore whose Oscar winning film was riddled with errors and used film of melting glaciers lifted from a movie where the chunks of glacial ice falling into the sea were really plastic foam made to look like ice.

 

Not that Al Gore who insists that the science is settled, that the great majority of scientists believe in global warming and only a tiny handful of scientists who he says probably also believe that the earth is flat, dispute the reality of global warming - this in the face of the 31,000 plus scientists who have signed statements that declared his theory humbug.

 

That Al Gore.

 

Face it, Global Warming is a gigantic hoax being used to justify the imposition of some of the most Draconian measures imaginable to combat a menace that does not exist. Developed nations around the world are enacting or hoping to enact legislation that will destroy their economies and doom third world nations to starvation.

 

All in the name of fighting a non-existent threat.

 

There ain't no global warming!"

OURAY COUNTY Jeep tourism in Ouray County is facing delays as the countys road and bridge department plows through overwhelming amounts of snow on the areas most popular trails.

 

Were still in our beginning stages, said Chris Miller, Ouray County road and bridge superintendent.

 

The five-man team has numerous roads to open in Ouray County and jeep tours, a major tourist industry in Ouray, can only wait. Those trails consist of Yankee Boy Basin, Red Mountain Town, Corkscrew, Brown Mountain, Engineer Pass and Imogene Pass. However, deep snow is making progress slow and the team is several weeks behind.

The department started plowing Yankee Boy on May 5. The usual 10-day plowing project is already weeks behind, but Miller was hoping to finish there yesterday and move onto Red Mountain Town at the top of Red Mountain Pass.

 

Were just going to have to bail right back in, he said.

 

In a normal year, Yankee Boy usually has 2 to 3 feet on the road and is easy to work, he said. But this is no normal year, and where the crew started plowing, the road was covered with more than 8 feet and it only got deeper.

 

Also hindering progress were several snowslides that havent run in almost a century.

 

They brought down 100-year-old trees ... all twisted up, Miller said. He said the slides took several 10-hour days to move.

 

The jeep traffic can now get up to the last Forest Service campground, where the crew traditionally stops plowing. The clearing of the road has been a relief for Ourays tour businesses.

 

Its affecting us a little bit, but were are still doing half-day trips, said Bob Burdick, owner of Colorado West Jeep Rentals and Tours.

 

Burdick has been with Colorado West for 25 years and has never seen this much snow before. He also owns a sleigh ride business in Telluride. However, he was unable to open that business this winter there was too much snow for his horses and sleigh to track through.

 

To help the projects move along, the local jeep businesses pay their workers to be spotters for the crew. They move a jeep along behind the Caterpillar D5 Dozer and watch for any dangerous situations, such as avalanches, Miller said.

 

Though the snow is more than 15 feet deep in many places, he said removing it is still one of the best jobs in the county.

 

You couldnt ask for a better office, he said.

 

Because there are not many markers on the roads, the crew works from memory. They figure about where the road is and work their way down, he said.

 

From Red Mountain Town, which Miller said will take about four days, the crew will move onto Corkscrew and Brown Mountain.

 

Both are about a five- to eight-mile stretch with 2 to 3 feet of snow on the road.

 

Another project is the countys entrance to Silverjack Reservoir. It is Forest Service land, but Miller said hes got clearance to plow. However, he needs to find the time and must have the right conditions. Currently, visitor scan only get to the first campground from the Cimarron area entrance, he said. He hopes he can get the Ridgway road cleared sometime in the next two weeks.

 

The end of the departments projects will take the crew to Engineer and Imogene passes. Engineer, Miller said, is fairly easy, but Imogene is one of the hardest projects of the summer. There is no help from the sun as most of the road is in the shade. Right now, he said, there is no way to even get down to the area.

 

Last year the crew finished up around July 2, with a goal to have the jeep trails open by the Fourth of July weekend. However, this year is looking grim.

 

Miller said he hopes they can have the areas ready by late July, but the projects could take them into August. Right now the crew is working two employees with one dozer, but the county might rent another to move things along quicker, Miller said.
